How we started
The inception of Solve Mortgages is a tale of resilience and determination. In March 2021, Moray faced a life-altering challenge when he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.
During his second day in the seclusion of a hospital room, with limited activities to pass the time beyond Netflix, Moray contemplated his future with great seriousness.
Initially, he mulled over pursuing a university degree, but the prospect of a five-year commitment to a part-time course seemed daunting. Seeking alternative paths, he reflected on his past experiences.
A moment of clarity struck as he recalled a particularly distressing encounter with a mortgage broker amid the 2020 lockdown. This memory sparked a realisation in Moray: he could leverage his background in Financial Services to offer superior customer service and more insightful financial advice than he had received.
Driven by this epiphany, Moray decided to re-enter the Financial Services sector. With his extensive experience and a newfound purpose, he was poised to enhance the mortgage brokerage experience for his future clients, thus laying the groundwork for what would become Solve Mortgages.
This venture was not just a business endeavour but a personal mission to transform a period of adversity into an opportunity to better serve others in their financial journeys.

Moray Arnot
Introduction
Hi, I'm Moray, the founder and director of Solve Mortgages. I have a strong drive to provide excellent service to my clients. No matter if you are a first-time buyer or a seasoned homeowner, I will make sure you get the best financial advice possible.
Life before Solve Mortgages
I began my career in the financial sector, working for Brewin Dolphin Stockbrokers right after finishing college. I joined the discretionary management team and became a Registered Representative at the age of 19. After gaining some experience, I decided to explore the world and embarked on a global journey.
After coming back to the UK, I changed my career path and worked in various positions in the Logistic sector for many years. When I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in 2021, I made up my mind to return to the financial services industry.
Outside of Solve Mortgages
Sports have always been a passion of mine. I used to play football, cricket and ski when I was younger, but I had to stop because of multiple knee injuries.
Cycling became my new way of staying fit and healthy. I also like to join events and inspire others with my story of overcoming Leukaemia.
In the summer, I enjoy watching my son play cricket at various grounds around the country. He is a talented junior representative player for Yorkshire CCC.
